About me

In 1986 I had the tough decision of either to go to the Glasgow School of Art to study photography or pursue my second love, music. I choose music and joined an indie band called The Wake who had just been signed to Factory Records by Tony Wilson. Headed up by the former songwriter of Altered Images, the band had just kicked out their erstwhile bass player Bobbie Gillespie, who had drifted off to form the Jesus and Mary Chain. I joined as his replacement and left after two years, however during that time had recorded an album and EP with the record producer John Leckie and also toured extensively with our label mates New Order and the Happy Mondays. I also lucky enough to recorded a session with with the late Radio 1 DJ, John Peel.

When I was nineteen I decided to leave the band and move to London and for the next eight years I worked for various record companies, first London Records then Sony Music working. Initially working as a talent scout I moved up to A&R manager and when I left the business was working in International Marketing. During my years at Sony Music  I was lucky enough to work with some great artists including The Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Howie B, Steve “Silk” Hurley, Suede and the Manic Street Preachers.

I left the industry in 1996 to set up my own Internet design agency and was Initially designing label and music sites. I then changed roles (and agencies) and managed and oversaw larger corporate projects. I have now worked in the Internet industry for 14 years and managed projects for brands such as Carling, British Airways, Calvin Klein Cosmetics, Penguin Books, Apple and Condé Nast publishing.

In January of 2005 I started taking photos again and began to work freelance for a number of music magazines. At present I currently contribute to two news agencies Retna and Rex Features who syndicate the catalogue at you can see on this site. My work has been published in wide range of publications including The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph, The Daily Star, The London Paper, The Evening Standard, The NME, Q, Mojo as well as many other international publications including Rolling Stone in the USA.
