I have to admit I don’t really get Elbow, nor understand their appeal, or even the continued success which they receive year after year. After 4 albums they have elbow_03.JPGamassed a fan-base that most acts would die for and endorsements from a range of artists including REM and U2, John Cale from the Velvet Underground even included their single “Switching Off” in his top 10 dessert island discs!

So I guess I must be a bit of a philistine when I admit to finding the gig pretty boring and feeling glad when I was asked to leave after the third number. I could have stayed however felt that watching Eastender’s on BBC’s iplayer was a lot more appealing.  I know that thousands of people visit my blog every month. If anyone reading this can explain the appeal of Elbow please do comment. I sometimes feel that I am talking to myself whilst I know that there are plenty of people lurking in the shadows reading this but not commenting!
