Gibson Slash

Adam Green is a bit of a phenomenon. Although being only 26 years old Adam has released five albums in as many years, and has recently had a number 1 album in the US after writing a number of songs on the soundtrack of the indie hit movie “Juno”. Musically he’s realy difficult to pin down however at tonight’s sold oput performance at Koko I heard (and saw) influences from Elvis and Gram Parsons. Songwriting wise he’s a couple of album’s away from being the next Rufus Wainwright as his songs show real depth and maturity.

The gig tonight was pretty good, the lighting was excellent and the audience was enthiusastic and well mannered. I’m surpised that despite receiving good airplay on XFM he’s still fairly unknown in the UK, I have not heard his new album “Sixes and Sevens” which came out last month on Rough Trade but based on his performance tonight may pick up a copy.
