Regular readers of my blog may remember that I saw Roisin at Koko in November of last year. The gig was excellent and I predicted great things for her recently released album “Overpowered”. Four months later and Roisin has moved up in the live ranks to the Roundhouse however has failed to crack the big time, her album was not nominated for any Brits and whilst the press coverage has been good it would appear that she lacks the credibility of Alison from Goldfrapp, her closest rival.
I was suprised that she decided to play the Roundhouse which is a favourite with many rock and indie bands however she transformed a venue where I normally leave drenched with beer into a funky clubby enviroment. Even though the Roundhouse lacks the intimacy of Koko she put on a great varied show with excellent projected visuals which jazzed things up. Although Roisin is known for her wacky and theatrical outfits she wandered on satge in a very demeour pinstiped tailored suit however changed into her trademark white t-shirt and skiiing pants. Her live performance was compelling and although I left before the end of the show throughly enjoyed the gig.
